About Decatur, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Located in Van Buren County, Decatur, Michigan is a city found within Decatur Township. As of 2010, about 1,800 people called the village home. Founded in 18487, Decatur was incorporated in 1861, and since that time, many churches have been constructed to host a variety of denominations. The Decatur Public School District serves the community and includes one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school – Decatur High.

There are several places to stop and visit in Decatur. Despite the community’s small size, there are many restaurants here, such as Final Gravity Brewing Company, Nettie’s Café, Hard Times Family Restaurant, and Laura’s Little Burger Joint. Lake of the Woods is located right outside town, and camping is available at the Lake of the Woods & Greenwoods Camps, and the Lake of the Woods Retreat offers lakefront cabins for guests. Shopping in Decatur is also available at the Village Market, American Memories, and Dollar General.

Varied weather conditions are part of what makes living in Decatur unique. Summers here are hot, humid, and long. Average daily highs can reach well into the 80s in July and August, and many residents prefer to stay indoors in the comfort of their central air conditioning rather than venturing outdoors. This is especially true of children and the elderly, as well as people with chronic medical conditions. Periodic tune-ups will also lower energy costs by ensuring the system operates properly.

Spring and autumn are warm and wet, and they occur on either side of a cold, snowy winter. This part of Michigan occasionally sees temperatures that plummet below 0 degrees Fahrenheit, and Lake-effect snowstorms are possible as late as April. To stay safe regardless of what type of weather occurs outdoors, residents need to invest in the right gas or electric furnace, and a Decatur-area HVAC technician can help them to select the best one.
